Finds from Felsställe Engraved Limestone ![]() Point with your mouse on the photo to see the outline. In the Felsställe rock-shelter, an engraved limestone fragment bearing the image of a woman was found near a stone wall that was probably part of an Ice Age dwelling. Only the complete lower part of the body with the left hip and stylised legs can be recognized. Admittedly, for an inexperienced observer it is hard to recognize the figure at first sight. However, many similar female illustrations are already known from all over Europe and can be compared with this one. It seems to be a fragment of a larger slab, but the remainder is unfortunately missing. The fragment originates from the Magdalenian period between 12,400 and 12,100 years before present and an example of later Ice Age artwork.
