Indefinable Animal’s Head

Animal's Head
In 1999, the largest part of this carving of an animal’s head was discovered in the Hohle Fels cave near Schelklingen. A chip was added later to the cheek. It probably depicts the head of a wild horse. Fine crosses and lines are visible on the side of the head and below the jaws. The shape of the jawbones is emphasized with lines. The mouth, the nostrils and the eyes are clearly engraved.
The carving is a little older than 30,000 years.
